Une TiffCoin | Édition 69 sur 499 | Tiffany & Co.

Une TiffCoin | Édition 69 sur 499 | Tiffany & Co.

One TiffCoin | Edition 69 of 499 | Tiffany & Co.

Acknowledging the growing dependence on it, Tiffany & Co. announced on April Fools' Day as a joke for cryptocurrency, that it would sell a limited series of 499 pieces in Yellow Gold 18 karat gold, known as TiffCoin.

As part of this launch, the company paid tribute to Tiffany Money, which were silver and gold coins that could be exchanged for various jewelry. Each TiffCoin is engraved and numbered with a T badge featuring graphics inspired by the coin. This 18 karat gold coin measures 34.8 mm in diameter and 2.8 mm thick, presented in an exclusive TiffCoin case inside the iconic Tiffany Blue Box.

Each piece was sold for $9,999 and on the site it stated: "You can't spend these TiffCoins... but why would you want to?" Although they are also for decoration, the concept of the fake cryptocurrency was a good marketing tactic and an excellent April Fools' joke.

TiffCoin was only available for 24 hours on the brand's website.
